Today is a big day for Australian bodyboarding with the first ever DK Wars South Coast being held at the formidable right hand slab known as Headies, near Wollongong, NSW.
Some of the states top drop knee guys jumped at the chance of competing in the first event of its type in the region. Inspired by the original DK Wars of Hawaii. DK Wars South Coast is a Bodyboard comp with a twist.
The swell, and the planets and the tides aligned and resulted in decent conditions at Brick Yard Point, North of Wollongong. The wind was questionable at the beginning of the event, but the event organiser’s prediction was spot on. The tide pushed, the wind swung, and the waves steam rolled through.
The event supported by Urobach.com, Reef Rash Bodyboarding, SWS Shell Harbour, and local greens keeper extraordinaire (and part time tree hugger), Elmo’s was filmed from all angles. Videos and images will be online soon.
The format of the event means that we don’t yet know who will be crowned the first ever champion of DK Wars South Coast. The footage will be reviewed and the results announced soon, so watch this space.
